Torn Ear Lobe

What causes a torn earlobe?

Torn earlobes usually arise from wearing heavy or large earrings or when another person pulls on the earring. The tear can be painful and does require the attention of an experienced doctor.

How to treat a torn earlobe

The repair of a torn ear lobe is done in the office setting under local anesthesia and is a painless procedure. Within a week, the ear lobe appears normal and the ear may be re-pierced one month later.

Dr. Shemen has done several hundred torn earlobe repairs  (also known as torn ear lobe surgery) in his Manhattan and Queens offices.
